Television is a nice side job that I do, but in truth, I am a teacher. About 4 years ago, I was invited to join the faculty for the Culinary Arts Program at Drexel University. It only took one class for me to fall in professional love...with the facility, my colleagues, my students and the program. Their incredibly diverse and comprehensive program produces some of the most well-rounded and capable young chefs that the restaurant world will ever see. If you (or your kids) have any culinary ambitions, go to Drexel.edu for more information. It will be the best food decision you will ever make!

Green House Comics

'Within the Green House comic strip, Todd and Pam Green live humble lives. They're trying to do what they love and love what they do, while being conscious of the environment and their place in it. Pam is a Special Ed teacher who also teaches yoga. She's a vegetarian who's into health, gardening and sustainable living. Todd is a cartoonist who’s seeking to change the world, or at least his current situation through his talents. Along the way he tries to learn more about the environment and eventually he creates a comic strip EARTHWORM: The World's Most Down-To-Earth Superhero. Together, The Greens do their best to make conscious choices and informed environmental decisions.'

So goes the copy on Green House Comics' website. I met Brad Gilchrist in Connecticut at a benefit concert and we got to talking about adding some humor to Christina Cooks magazine...so Brad, along with co-creator, Peter Menice, have begun to grace the pages of our magazine with their very entertaining...and very relevant (once you get past the jokes) comic page. Their touch is warm funny and sweet...but their message is a powerful one that needs to be seen and heard by many.

people and things

Head on over to their site and see what these genius cartoonists have to offer...you'll smile as you change the world right along side them.

Greenpeace

I can’t think of an organization doing more important work in protecting our environment than Greenpeace. They bring attention to the issues no wants us to talk about…they work hard to protect our air, water and earth. They work hard to ensure that our planet isn’t a casualty of corporate greed. I have been a member of this splendid organization since I was 18 years old and highly recommend that you visit their site for an eye-opening education about what’s being done to our fragile planet…and what you can do to help.

Holistic Holiday At Sea

I was never attracted to cruises really. I had never been on one, but had decided that I didn't like them. Then the fine folks at A Taste of Health called and invited me to teach and lecture aboard their first Holistic Holiday At Sea. I dreaded it. But off I went! And boy, oh boy was I ever surprised. What a wonderful experience!

The accommodations were lovely; the staff professional; the food elegant and yummy; the classes and seminars informative and fun; the ports of call were gorgeous. I taught and had a wonderful time great fun and great people. It was a blast. Okay, okay, so I was wrong about cruises.

Jonathan's Spoons

Seven years ago, when I was beginning production on my first season of Christina Cooks, I decided that I didn't want to 'populate' my set with just any old cookware and utensils. So I went to a craft show to see what caught my eye. I wandered the aisles, drooling over dishes, platters, bowls and glassware, but what bowled me over most were spoons. Yes, spoons. I walked up to a stall filled with the most exquisite, creative, whimsical, absolutely beautiful wooden spoons I had ever seen. I struck up a conversation with the creator, Jonathan Simons, a fellow redhead and the next thing I knew, Jonathan was working with me to create spoons for my television series.Since that day, both on and off the set of the show, I have used nothing but spoons and other utensils from Jonathan's Spoons.

Check out their website www.woodspoon.com and you?ll see why!

Love, Eric

Every once in a while, something so special crosses my desk that I just have to tell you about it. About a year ago, someone gave me a small and exquisitely beautiful cookbook for my birthday called 'Love, Eric'. It was filled with delightful macrobiotic desserts that were as delicious as they were easy to make. The book became a reference for a lot of my dessert creations. Eric Lechasseur discovered macrobiotics when his wife, Sanae was challenged with cancer and they used food to heal her condition...successfully. Eric then turned his professional chef gifts to creating delicious macrobiotic cuisine, as well as building a business of healing and joy with Sanae. They have since published a second cookbook, 'Love, Eric and Sanae,' filled with savory, seasonal, delicious recipes that will delight your palate. After many months of emailing, my husband and I finally met Eric and Sanae and another great friendship has been born. Please treat yourself...to a book, a retreat, a seminar...or just a recipe...

Suzanne's Specialties

I met Susan Morano 20 years ago at a natural foods convention. She was doing what she does best, convince people that brown rice syrup is one of the greatest natural sweeteners ever, (used in place of processed white sugar) I paid attention, tried her products and have never used another brown rice syrup since! With a full line of natural sweeteners, fruit spreads and other yummy products, Susan and her merry crew never stop creating food products the way Mother Nature intended.
